Ausangate or Auzangate is a mountain of the Vilcanota mountain range in the Andes of Peru. With an elevation of 6,384 metres, it is situated around 100 kilometres southeast of Cusco in the Cusco Region, Canchis Province, Pitumarca District, and in the Quispicanchi Province, Ocongate District.

Itinerary

1 Days

  • Your visit starts with the transfer from the hotel. By 04:30 hrs the tour to then communities of Tinke and Pacchanta, located 136 km from Cusco (3 hrs. approximately).
  • Upon arrival, you will have a breakfast before the five-hour tour in the lakes located in the side of Ausangate mountain.
  • During the tour, you will visit Pucacocha, Azulqocha, Otorongo, Alqacocha, Q’omercocha and Patacocha lakes.
  • The first lake is Pucacocha, aka “the chocolate lake” due to the color of its waters and located at 4,500 m.a.s.l.
  • Then, you will visit Patacocha lake, located at 4,860 m.a.s.l., which has the clearest waters.
  • Then, we will visit Alqacocha lake, which has a spectacular view of the mountain and the Vilcanota mountain chain.
  • Also, you will visit Qomercocha lake, with turquoise-colored waters.
  • In addition, you will visit Otorongo lakes, made up by orco otorongo and china otorongo lakes.
  • The seventh lake is Azulqocha with dark blue waters.
  • During the tour, you will see Ausangate mountain, located at 6380 m.a.s.l. and native birds, alpacas, llamas and viscachas.
  • After that, around 12:30 hrs. we will have a delicious Andean lunch
  • Finally,it will be time to prepare dinner everyone will help, we will put our hand like good chefs.
  • Then we will all go to sleep, at dawn we will see the glaciers of the Andes covering our camp

2 Days

  • will start the return trip to Pacchata for lunch. Then, you may enjoy the hot springs of the place.
  • Finally, we will get back to Cusco at 15:30 hrs. and we will take you to your hotel.
